Ruby! The Unicorn Who Saved Christmas story book

In December 2019, at just 6 years old, Ruby Stewart become the youngest Editor-in-Chief of her very own book - The Unicorn with the Ruby Horn. Ruby was very excied about the book and often talked about ideas for other 'Ruby the Unicorn' books.

In December 2019, Ruby to Lapland. "It was a trip we’d been planning through a wish granting children’s charity but were then told it would not be possible because Ruby was paraplegic. Undeterred, we found a way. We fundraised for the trip, made the arrangements, and made sure that Ruby got to meet Santa in his home at the ‘North Pole’." Less than 3 weeks after returning from Lapland, Ruby passed away.

Inspired by the trip and wanting to do something for Ruby and lift everyone’s spirits, our friend and neighbour, Derek Sword, set about writing a Ruby the Unicorn story.

The Unicorn Who Saved Christmas was born. The story follows Ruby the Unicorn as she visits Santa in Lapland and then helps him with a very important job on Christmas Eve. A story that Ruby would’ve loved.

In 2021, Derek contacted famous UK actor, writer, comedian and broadcaster, Stephen Fry, hoping to have the story narrated. Incredibly, Stephen agreed! An audiobook was published and received lots of media attention, including being featured on STV news.

Following on from the audio book, the next step was to create a picture book. It would become the second Ruby the Unicorn story to go to print. In a truly remarkable act of generosity, Eileen, illustrator of The Unicorn with the Ruby Horn, agreed to donate her time once again. In Autumn 2022, Eileen began her brilliant illustrations and The Unicorn Who Saved Christmas came to life in glorious pictures.
